Senior Manager, Analytics Engineer
AstraZeneca Oncology is looking to hire a Senior Manager, Analytics Engineerto join the Data Management team in the US Oncology Business Excellence organization. This role is at the intersection of business teams, data analytics and data engineering. This individual will help establish software engineering best practices in collaboration with our Commercial IT teamsto drive business value and speed of solutions to have business impact. This entails delivering data transformation, data pipeline, and foundational data structures via best practices leveragingcutting edge technology, principles, and practices. This role is also the primary interface for day-to-day interactions with Analytics and Data Science and AI teamsmanaging opportunities & innovation with both commercialIT, internal customers and AZ’s enterprise master data management team.A successful Analytics Engineer is able to tie business needs with technical expertise to drive business goals and data strategy.This role will enable quality data to drive our AI and advanced analytics capabilities.
What You’ll Do:
In collaboration with the data science team and analytics teams, you will be responsible for designing, testing, implementing and maintaining data integrations, as well as performing analytic computations that support performance analytics, predictive analytics and reporting applications
Create procedures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility
Create and implement data management processes and procedures end to end
Analyze and plan with IT a solid data framework, reference data, and metadata
Merge data from multiple staging environments in combination with extract files into a single data product used for analytics processing
Assist in maintaining cloud-based data infrastructure
Model raw data into clean, tested, and reusable datasets
Apply various transformation to different data pieces to ensure they correspond to given tasks
Maintain data documentation to ensure the correct use of data based on definitions and language
Set software engineering best practices for analytics like version control, ensure up-to-date and reliable data
Assist with troubleshooting of issues with integration or analytics results
The ability to explain complex ideas in a simplified manner
Apply data governance principles to all aspects related to data
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technicalfield
4+ years of technical managementdelivering success in complex data analytics environment, managing multiple relationships and consensus on solutions
4+ years pharmaceutical, biotechnology experience with a focus in Commercial Operations
Experience in commercial data products, insights, data management and analytics
Experience working with cloud based ETL processes and procedures
Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server for software development
Demonstrated analytics skills and use of multiple software tools (SQL, Python, R, dbt, Git, cloud warehouses)
Ability to combine a strong qualitative & quantitative foundation with business acumen, influence and delivery
Ability to engage in multiple work streams simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
Post-graduate degree in MIS, Data Management
2+ years’ experience with Databricks/Spark
3+ years’ in hands on experience with tools for building data pipelines
Proven experience in a data architect role with practical examples of designing and providing data engineering blueprints that have been pragmatic and implemented

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $138,296 to $207,444. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
